At the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH), our core mission is to provide the highest standard of hospitality, travel, tourism and culinary qualifications. CTH achieves this through robust monitoring supported by industry, universities and the UK government regulator, Ofqual. CTH has partnerships with major international employers and academic institutions. CTH is a member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies.GTMC, Virgin Atlantic, and Star Alliance work with CTH on our Professional Skills Programmes while our Management Programmes lead to final year undergraduate and Masters degrees with many British and international universities. Contact CTH and become part of the success.
Over the last 30 years CTH has focused on developing and adding value to careers globally in the industry. It was established in 1982 as a specialist professional awarding body in the UK with a mission to focus on the training needs of new entrants to the hospitality, travel, tourism and culinary sectors. It now has a network of Approved Teaching Centres worldwide delivering sought after CTH qualifications to thousands of new students each year.
CTH provides a ladder of progression in hospitality, travel, tourism and culinary qualifications at Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma level, and our qualifications provide appropriate academic preparation for students to apply for entry on to final year Bachelor’s Degree programmes and on to Masters top-up programmes. These routes deliver well trained and qualified employees, as well as future leaders for the sector.
CTH ensures its quality through its approved status with Ofqual, the UK government body responsible for oversight of the UK’s accredited qualification framework. All qualifications are developed in conjunction with leading employers and sectoral bodies to ensure relevance, value and quality. This approach guarantees that CTH qualifications are valued by employers throughout the world.
CTH is also a member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies. In addition, our management qualifications are recognised by over 25 British and international universities.
All CTH Approved Teaching Centres worldwide undergo a stringent accreditation process, both prior to approval and each year thereafter, to ensure they achieve suitable quality thresholds to enable effective delivery of our programmes.
CTH also has strong links with industry, with relationships and endorsements from organisations such as Virgin Atlantic Airways, GTMC, Star Alliance, Marriot Hotels Caribbean, Radisson Edwardian, Sheraton Hotels, Mantis Collection, Adair Leadership, The Intercontinental Hotels Group and many others
Developing future management talent for the industry. CTH Management Programmes offer an excellent alternative, or complement to, university study in hospitality and tourism.
Graduates of these programmes typically aspire to obtain management roles, whether at junior trainee level for those completing Level 4 Diploma or at senior level for those completing the Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma.
Each programme is specifically geared to a particular learning outcome. For example, the Level 5 Advanced Diploma is an ideal pathway course for centres seeking to run a full university “top-up” final year, while the Level 6 Pro-Diploma offers a complete integrated degree level learning package in itself.
A career as a professional chef is challenging but also immensely rewarding. Professional cookery, as many celebrity chefs have shown, is a highly creative activity and one that demands dedication, creativity and flair
Ranging from the entry-level programme (Award), the Culinary Programmes house a range of qualification sizes, going from the Award, the Certificate, all the way up to the Diploma level qualification.
The Award level qualification introduces candidates to a range of food preparation and cooking techniques to provide the basis for a career in a professional kitchen. Further up, the comprehensive Diploma qualification will prepare the students to set up and run their own hospitality business. CTH Culinary programmes deliver qualifications that both enhance job performance and develop career prospects.
Known industry figures like Gordon Ramsay’s Tante Marie were involved in the syllabi’s development making sure it reaches a very high standard and is the right fit for the industry.
The Confederation’s Professional Skills Programmes are different from its Management Programmes in that they are specifically designed to develop the student’s hands-on, practical job skills, typically by way of shorter highly-focused skills training.
Each CTH Professional Skills Programme is a specialised qualification, carefully designed to meet the unique training needs of a particular practitioner role within the travel and tourism industry.
Ranging from short training courses in a single specialist skill right up to a comprehensive Diploma in a range of practitioner competencies, the programmes deliver training that both enhances job performance and develops career prospects.
In each case the syllabi are of the highest standard and developed in tandem with leading organisations in the sector. Virgin Active and Sabre Travel Network are but a few of the known industry figures involved in the development of our professional skills qualifications.
